January LTA 3
January has been quite an exciting month! We jumped back into the school routine, reviewing expectations while smoothly picking up where we left off before Christmas break. You could truly tell how happy everyone was to be back at school!
In ELA, we continued working on sight words and learned new digraphs, including er, or, ar, and ir. We read books about sounds and how our senses help us understand what we hear and see. In science, we explored our senses by discussing light and dark, what helps us when it is dark, and which parts of our bodies we use to experience our senses.
We also learned about Martin Luther King Jr. in recognition of the holiday. Students enjoyed creating crafts to prepare for Valentine’s Day. We continued to enjoy our special classes and loved getting outside, even on the colder days!
In Math, we focused on place value and practiced skip counting by 10s.
As we move into next month and begin a new quarter, we are excited to start learning about fractions and telling time. We will also dive into studying the solar system, as well as the Earth and the geography around us!
